The new partnership will support broader adoption of R;pple’s digital crisis intervention tool across the healthcare sector.
Agilio Software has partnered with R;pple Online Safety, a technology organisation specialised in classifying harmful online content, to bring an award-winning digital crisis intervention tool to healthcare professionals, addressing rising levels of stress, burnout and emotional strain, and uniting around a shared mission to protect mental health and prevent suicide across the sector.
A digital safety net in moments of crisis
R;pple is a digital tool (available as a browser extension or via Wi-Fi) that provides a crisis intervention for individuals searching online for self-harm or suicide-related content. R;pple interrupts harmful searches with a powerful visual prompt, offering a message of hope and signposting to 24/7 mental health services.
The tool, which has recently expanded its capabilities to cover a broader range of mental health conditions and life challenges (incl. substance misuse, financial struggles, eating disorders, domestic abuse, and more), is a proactive step towards bridging the gap between online behaviour and real-world help.
With over 1.9 million active users worldwide and intercepting over 100,000 harmful online searches to date, the technology is already making a significant impact. Now, thanks to the partnership with Agilio, R;pple is extending its reach into healthcare sectors where suicide rates are disproportionately high.
Studies have highlighted concerning statistics:
- Doctors – a study published in The British Medical Journal indicated that the suicide rate among male doctors is comparable to that of the general population, while female doctors face a significantly higher risk, with a 76% increase compared to the general population
- Nurses – research from NHS England revealed that female nurses have a 23% higher suicide rate than the general female population
- Dentists – according to The British Dental Journal, one in three dentists have contemplated suicide at some point in their career
- Veterinarians – the suicide rate among veterinarians is approximately four times higher than that of the general population, as reported by Risk Management Monitor.
Championing wellbeing in healthcare
The partnership forms part of Agilio’s wider commitment to innovation and supporting the wellbeing of healthcare professionals. By reducing stress, preventing burnout and easing the pressures of day-to-day operations, Agilio’s software solutions help teams across the sector focus on what matters most – delivering outstanding care.
For R;pple, the collaboration provides a crucial opportunity to target healthcare environments where the risk of suicide is disproportionately high. Alice Hendy MBE, CEO and Founder of R;pple, said: “Our partnership with Agilio Software empowers us to focus our efforts on high-risk areas of healthcare, ensuring we can provide critical support to those who need it most and make a lasting impact on mental health for as many individuals as possible.
“We are grateful to the team at Agilio for being so supportive of our work, and we’re excited to continue our meaningful collaboration together long into the future.”
Nikki Berryman, Community Engagement and Employee Wellbeing Officer at Agilio Software, added:
“Agilio Software is honoured to partner with R;pple Online Safety, an organisation dedicated to creating a safer online environment by protecting individuals from harmful content linked to self-harm and suicide.
“Our commitment aligns with R;pple’s mission to combat the stigma surrounding mental health and provide essential resources for those at risk. As part of this, we have implemented the tool across our own organisation to safeguard the wellbeing of our staff. In parallel, by supporting R;pple’s wider initiatives, we are helping to raise awareness and empower healthcare communities to take proactive steps in supporting those in need.”
Working together for meaningful change
By partnering with R;pple, Agilio is championing a practical, early intervention approach to mental health. Through increased awareness, shared resources and simple steps like installing the R;pple tool, healthcare organisations can help to foster a culture of safety and support for colleagues at risk
This work continues through Agilio’s wider awareness efforts, including a live webinar on Tuesday 7 May at 1pm titled Supporting workplace mental health and suicide prevention: my brother’s legacy.
Led by Alice Hendy MBE, the session draws on her lived experience after tragically losing her brother, Josh, to suicide in 2020 at the age of 21. His story is sadly not unique. Each month, an estimated 1.2 million online searches are linked to suicide globally, underscoring the urgent need for preventative action.
The webinar will explore how healthcare organisations can create safer, more supportive environments through practical steps and awareness. For further information and to register to attend, simply visit https://tinyurl.com/my-brother-s-legacy.
Agilio Software is also participating in the Peak District Ultra Challenge in support of R;pple Suicide Prevention Charity. More than 40 Agilio colleagues across all divisions will take on distances ranging from 10 to 62 miles across two days to raise funds and awareness for R;pple’s life saving work.
This partnership marks a meaningful step forward in mental health support within the healthcare community and highlights the role of innovation, collaboration and compassion in saving lives.
