Job purpose:
To lead the development of scalable, reusable WordPress themes and
plugins within a multisite architecture, supporting a shared CMS
platform. This role focuses exclusively on the application layer and does
not include infrastructure responsibilities.

You will be responsible for:
Strategic / Platform Development
• Build robust, scalable WordPress features used across a wide network
of sites.
• Contribute to architectural decisions and help shape the long-term
direction of the WordPress platform.
• Ensure performance, scalability, and reliability of WordPress -based
solutions.

Technical Execution
• Develop and maintain reusable themes and plugins for a large-scale
WordPress multisite environment.
• Use advanced PHP, WordPress APIs, WP-CLI, and Git workflows to
deliver high-quality code.
• Apply modern frontend technologies including HTML, SCSS, and
JavaScript.
Collaboration & Communication
• Work closely with product, design, test, and platform teams to define
and refine CMS functionality.
• Participate in code reviews and mentor junior developers.
• Document technical decisions and processes to support maintainability
and knowledge sharing.

Continuous Improvement
• Stay current with WordPress ecosystem trends, tools, and best
practices.
• Identify opportunities to improve platform performance, security, and
accessibility.

The skills and experience which we are looking for in our Senior
WordPress Engineer are:
• 5+ years of professional experience with PHP and WordPress APIs.
• 3+ years working with multisite WordPress architecture and developing
scalable plugins and themes.
• 3+ years of experience using WP-CLI and other command-line tools for
WordPress.
• 3+ years of experience with Git and modern version control workflows.
• 3+ years of frontend development experience using HTML, SCSS,
and JavaScript.
• Experience working in product-led teams and contributing to shared
CMS platforms.
• Strong understanding of performance optimisation, security best
practices, and accessibility standards in WordPress.
• Familiarity with automated testing frameworks and CI/CD
pipelines (even if not directly responsible for them).

Additional Information
This is a full-time role based remotely.

Job type: Full-time, permanent, some out of hour’s work may be
required from time to time.
