Following the Prime Minister’s announcement yesterday (Monday 4th January 2021) and the third national lockdown, formal shielding advice has resumed for all clinical extremely vulnerable individuals.
This means that clinically extremely vulnerable people should not work at the practice. If they are unable to work from home, they will be entitled to Statutory Sick Pay for the duration that they are advised not to work. Alternatively and if eligible, practices may choose to furlough clinically extremely vulnerable employees.
Members of the household who are not clinically extremely vulnerable should continue to attend work at the practice if they are unable to work from home.
Clinically extremely vulnerable individuals will receive an updated letter from their GP or the NHS advising them to shield.
Additional guidance is due to be released shortly.
