The department of Health and Social Care have announced some details of the PPE reimbursement for non-hospital providers. This claims process will enable NHS and mixed practices to recoup additional costs of PPE which have resulted from the COVID-19 pandemic.
NHS dental contractors will be able to submit claims for standard COVID-19 PPE purchased between 27 February 2020 and 31 December 2020 for use in the delivery of NHS dental services as a result of COVID-19 infection control guidance.
Standard COVID-19 PPE items for dental contractors are defined as:
- type IIR masks
- FFP2/3 masks
- gowns (sterile and non-sterile)
- eye protection (visors and goggles)
- hand sanitiser
- clinical waste bags
The period in which dental contractors can submit claims via the COMPASS portal will be announced soon and is expected to be as soon as possible. Contractors will receive further information confirming the go live date and arrangements for submitting a claim.
