The Acting Director of General Healthcare Policy in Northern Ireland, Michael O’Neill, has announced the details of the GDS Financial Support Scheme for the remainder of 2020/21. Practices which see patient activity over 15% will continue receive full contributions for the remainder of 2020/21. Practices with activity between 1% and 15% will be subject to an abatement calculated on a sliding scale. GDPs with activity less than 1% of 2019/20 levels will no longer qualify for FSS payments. This change is unlikely to impact the majority of practices in Northern Ireland as according to the Department of Health, most practices have been exceeding the 15% threshold in recent months.
